Provivi Overview

Provivi--- is a California-based, globally operating AgTech company using pheromones to protect crops from major damaging insects. Our patented production method enables a step-change in the cost of manufacturing pheromones, allowing us to pioneer the use of this proven tool in high-acreage crops such as corn, rice, and soy.

Founded in 2013 by Nobel laureate Frances Arnold and Caltech scholars Pedro Coelho and Peter Meinhold, we are hiring the very best and brightest people to develop and commercialize our products.

What you'll do:

• Manage Provivi's existing patent portfolio.
  • Organize, track, and manage entire IP portfolio
  • Provide patent and IP support for Provivi, Inc. business, including patent prosecution, competitive intelligence and strategy targeted at emerging competitors.
    • Work with R&D at all levels to capture innovations; review and analyze invention disclosures.
    • Prepare, coordinate execution of intellectual property assignment, declaration, and power of attorney documents.
    • Contribute to educational efforts across business on best practices for IP and other legal matters.
    • Identify opportunities to expand our IP position in collaboration with members of various discovery, development and business groups.
    • Develop IP strategy and analyze and mitigate risk
      • Coordinating FTO (Freedom to Operate) projects.
      • Conduct searches, analyzing patent documents as well as scientific literature.
      • Conduct an analysis by searching patent literature for issued or pending patents, to enable inhouse or outside counsel to provide/obtain a legal opinion as to whether a product, process or service may be considered to infringe any patent(s) owned by others.
      • Assess competitor patent portfolios relative to current and future Provivi products, and assess and mine Provivi patent portfolio relative to competitor products and develop IP strategy surrounding each. Critical Success Factors:
        • Good Judgment: Demonstrate expertise and sound judgment, understand how assigned responsibilities support Provivi's business objectives, and be able to provide practical, risk-balanced advice based upon a thorough understanding of the scope of an issue, taking full advantage of internal networks and external intelligence.
        • Collaboration: Firm understanding of available legal, functional, and business resources and ability to integrate information from a number of sources to achieve business results, including breaking down boundaries to create alignment as necessary, in a complex, global, matrixed environment.
        • Anticipation: Holistic, big picture thinker, who anticipates changes in law, enforcement, and/or business objectives and adapts approach as necessary to manage risks effectively and mitigate issues before they arise.
        • Influencing Skills: Build strong relationships with business partners to tactfully influence and gain their support to drive desired outcomes. Required Qualifications:
          • Minimum 4 years of experience with patent prosecution
          • Experience coordinating FTO projects for new products
          • Experience with drafting patent claims that are commercially relevant to Provivi products or future or current competitive products.
