NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use
law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online
activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to
ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and
healthy communities. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our people helped
write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the
Clean Water Act and many of the implementing regulations. Today,
our team of more than 700 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy
advocates, communications experts, and others work across the
United States and the globe from our offices in Bozeman, Montana;
Chicago; New York; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Washington, D.C.;
and Beijing. NRDC is seeking a Program Manager to work with the
Communications team in our Santa Monica office.Position SummaryNRDC
is seeking a Program Manager for Rewrite the Future (RTF), an
initiative that helps Hollywood tell more compelling stories about
the climate crisis through industry dialogue and education, climate
story consultation, and help with project development. RTF is a
unit within NRDC's Communications Department. The Program Manager
will report to the Director of RTF and be based in NRDC's Santa
Monica office. The Program Manager's responsibilities will be split
between project management (roughly two thirds) and
creative/strategy (roughly one-third). We are looking for someone
with experience managing complex projects and working with creative
professionals, preferably in Hollywood.
Project Management duties:
- Manage ongoing RTF projects and
priorities. Develop project plans, set clear timelines &
deliverables, coordinate and execute work.
- Manage event production, including conceptualization,
participant engagement, marketing, vendor management, etc.
- Manage and track funding deadlines and project deliverables, in
coordination with Development and the RTF team.
- Coordinate work with NRDC staff in Communications and other
departments for product development, promotion, etc.
- Coordinate work with external consultants.
- Oversee audience engagement tools & outreach for
- Critique film and TV scripts, treatments, outlines, and rough
cuts and provide feedback and suggestions to improve them, with
particular focus on climate and environmental justice stories.
- Generate ideas for and cultivate entertainment industry
partnerships and projects that promote climate/EJ storytelling
- Help develop climate and EJ stories for on-air shows through
research, subject expert consultations, etc.
- Help write and edit materials to advance RTF advocacy in
entertainment, media and academic spaces.
- Research climate and climate-storytelling content for ongoing
ideation and engagement opportunities.
- Passion for environmental issues.
- At least 7 years of professional experience in entertainment,
social impact, PR/communications, marketing, partnerships, or
similar NGO or cultural institution experience.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to
coordinate multiple projects and shifting requests.
- Knowledge of and interest in pop culture, visual arts, and/or
the entertainment industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will

a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience.
For this position, the salary is $90,000 to $105,000. Internal
equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
