Would you like to join us in this mission?We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join Kite Development's Strategy and Operations Team as Director, Development Strategic Operations Lead. You will be responsible for implementing, advancing and evolving the Development Operating Model, and will lead Change Management for the new Development Operating Model.You will have a high-impact role focused on embedding, operationalizing and evolving a new Development Operating Model. You will partner closely with Development Leadership, Global Development Leads, and Operational & Functional Workstream Leads to improve the capabilities and functionality of the Development organization. The impact of the role will be reflected in better review of clinical development plans for Kite's portfolio assets, robust budgeting and long-range planning for Development activities, structural changes to improve efficiency, and more effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Responsibilities

  • Serve as Development Operating Model Process Owner, ensuring efficient embedding, operations and maturation of capabilities to operate and advance the model and its effectiveness
    • Ensure clear role expectations for all Operating Model participants
    • Drive effective preparation of all Development Governance Body Meetings enabling their decision making by partnering closely with meeting contributors on content preparation to ensure high-quality deliverables
    • Drive development and implementation of consistent, repeatable and fit-for-purpose processes, tools and frameworks to operationalize and evolve the Operating Model
    • Drive operationalization of Operational & Functional Workstreams commissioned by the Development Governance Bodies
    • Serve as Change Management Lead for the new Development Operating Model, ensuring efficient adoption of new ways of working and driving organizational alignment of cross-functional leaders and teams
      • Develop and execute change management learning and development plan and tools for Operating Model participants, and other key stakeholders, aimed at augmenting team effectiveness and capabilities
      • Develop and execute continuous change leadership and communications plans in partnership with Senior Development Leaders
      • Design and implement a systematic approach to periodic health checks of the Operating Model, including surveys, stakeholder interviews, and focus groups to understand pain points and areas for improvement
      • Identify and drive Operating Model improvements aimed at augmenting Operating Model maturity at the user, process and technology levelBasic Qualifications
        • Advanced scientific degree (i.e., MD, PharmD, PhD) and 8+ years of experience in Development and Strategy and/or Operations, Project/Program Management, Change Management, and/or Operational Excellence - OR -
        • Master's Degree and 10+ years of experience in Development and Strategy and/or Operations, Project/Program Management, Change Management, and/or Operational Excellence - OR -
        • Bachelor's Degree and 12+ years of experience in Development and Strategy and/or Operations, Project/Program Management, Change Management, and/or Operational ExcellencePreferred Qualifications
          • Hands-on experience withproject/program management from preclinical stages through clinical development with in-depth understanding of relevant clinical, regulatory, and commercial milestones
          • Hands-on experience with change management, including leading structured and significant change efforts within teams and departments, serving as a change agent and history of motivating others to deliver and effect change while maintaining a positive, transparent, and collaborative team environment
          • High degree of organizational awareness and hands-on experience with leading implementation and optimization of operating models in an organization
          • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization, and significant experience and skill in strategic communications
          • Proven ability in framing and solving complex problems and the analytical ability to interpret and communicate them effectively
          • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, comfort with ambiguity and changing business priorities, adapt to working in a fast-paced environment
          • High emotional intelligence, with demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders effectively, facilitate discussions, and successfully negotiate through challenging situations and difficult conversations
          • A team player, focusing on shared goals, being flexible, and applying skills; respect and listen to others' views and value others' contribution(s)
          • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills along with the ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment
          • Expert experience of Project Management tools and state-of-the-art practices; Project Management certification (e.g., PMP)
          • Experience as Change Manager and adapt in using Change Management tools and practices; Change Management certificationNOTE: This role can be based in Santa Monica (highly preferred) or be Remote-based.
