Job Description:

Blending the roles of CFO and COO, the CxO at Joffe Emergency Services will play a key role in developing financially sustainable products and services for a high growth organization. This expertise will include modeling financial scenarios of new undertakings including launching new services, pricing new and existing products and services, and reviewing cost-benefit analyses of current offerings. Leveraging strong accounting, audit, financial management and financial analysis skills the CxO directs the overall business operations activities of the company and regularly and systematically reports outcomes to the CEO. The CxO analyzes the current information technology infrastructure and scopes out the next level of information technology and financial systems that will support the growth of specific programs and the organization overall. The CxO ensures that all financial activities and operations are performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.

Requirements

CxO job responsibilities associated with a traditional stand alone COO role:

  • Provides leadership over corporate operations and collaborates with department leaders to ensure successful operations.
  • Provides timely and accurate reporting of operational metrics and key performance indicators to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Leads the development and execution of an annual operating plan that fully supports the company's strategic plan and annual budget.
  • Leads efforts to refine and implement profitability management processes, including utilization metrics and expense control at the operating unit level
  • Identifies operational roadblocks in advance and adjusts accordingly to successfully achieve objectives on time.
  • Collaborates with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization.
  • Ensures that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures to meet operational and financial targets.
  • Motivates and leads a high performance management team; attract, recruit and retain required members of the executive team not currently in place; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program. Makes "hiring / firing" recommendations.
  • Acts as lead "client-care officer" through direct contact with clients and partners.
  • Operations: Developing and implementing a robust operational plan for delivering high-quality IT and administrative services in support of Joffe's mission and strategic direction.
    CxO job responsibilities associated with a traditional stand-alone CFO role:
    • Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
    • Maintains market awareness of industry trends, opportunities and turns
    • Drives operational accuracy, efficiency and scalability through systems and process enhancements and IT infrastructure.
    • Ensures timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts
    • Develops budgets for new business growth and strategy.
    • Prepares and presents financial statements, balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial documentation.
    • Provides executive management with recommendations on the financial implications of business operations and activities.
    • Works with corporate counsel and Chief Growth Officer on M&A, financing and structuring documents
    • Accounting and Finance Operations: Managing the accounting and finance team, and designing and implementing best practice organization, processes, technologies, metrics, and people management.
    • Ensures that the financial management system, chart of accounts, and internal control systems are properly designed and maintained; and provides meaningful and timely information.
    • Ensures that the key transaction systems are efficiently and fully implemented, the department staff managing and utilizing these systems are proficient in their use, and that the data is regularly reconciled to the general ledger.
    • Negotiates or consults on all major transactions, reviews all contracts, and manages all legal affairs for Joffe.
    • Directs internal operations to achieve budgeted results and other financial criteria, and to preserve the capital.
    • Drives the annual budget process and ongoing reporting requirements.
    • As required raises capital at appropriate valuations to enable the Company to meet sales, growth, and market share objectives.
      Qualifications:
      • BS in Accounting or Finance (MBA and/or CPA highly desirable) (BS Desired, but not required)
        • 10+ years in progressively responsible financial and operational leadership roles with business management, budgetary and supervision experience operating at a senior executive level and having held the CFO title for at least 5 years.
        • Strong accounting, audit, financial management and financial analysis skills with a high level of business acumen including successful P&L management.
        • Background in strategy and business planning with the proven ability to develop and manage business plans, processes and controls to enhance efficiencies and mitigate risk.
        • Possesses thorough understanding and broad experiences with the full range of business functions and systems including: strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, facilities management, finance, information systems, human resources, legal affairs, and marketing with the ability to creatively solve problems and develop practical solutions.
        • Results-proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation.
        • Demonstrated ability in organizational development, information technology, business transformation, fundraising, project management, asset and property management.
        • Some degree of former risk management oversight or direct service
        • Deep experience with legal language and concepts in all types of business contracts and risk assessments.
        • Exceptional written and verbal communication.

Strong ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget.

          The CxO is an executive with deep staff, operational, and financial management experience. They can set clear priorities, delegate, and guide investment in people and systems and possess evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
