Company: Music/Records, Santa Monica, CA Remarks: Reporting to the Co-President and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Executive Vice President of Communications will be responsible for working with the executive office on the development of the company's communication strategy and contribute to the strategic planning process for the organization with a global focus. The EVP of Communications will develop a global communications plan directly managing communications objectives that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's brand reputation. The EVP of Communications will be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities and communications campaigns related to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership. This individual will be an ambassador for the organization and will need to bring strong established relationships with the media and music industry as well as artist representatives across all genres of music domestically and internationally. The goal is to advance the organization's position with relevant constituents and drive broader awareness. The EVP of Communications will be responsible for Corporate Communications, Event and Entertainment Public Relations, and Brand Reputation and Crisis mitigation and management, including the client relations and deliverables of specialized Communication Agencies, as required. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Communications Strategy, Vision and Leadership

  • Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to further advance the organization's brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences
  • Create public relations and communications campaign strategies that will allow leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including the media and key influencers
  • Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization. Work with leadership team and staff to recognize external communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them
  • Serve as communications counselor to the organization's leadership
  • Position the organization as a thought leader across multiple stakeholders, including members of the press, key publications and organizations
  • Create impactful strategic PR plans around GRAMMY Season, including the organization's annual telecast, red carpet and media center as well as leverage artist participation to drive consumer engagement-- Communications Operations
    • Set, manage and achieve OKRs for the department and any key interdependencies across the organization
    • Provide input into marketing and print communications, marketing collateral materials and electronic communications including corporate website and new media; manage relationships with relevant vendors and media
    • Serve as spokesperson on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization
    • Exercise judgment to prioritize media opportunities, and help prepare Executive talking points, biographies, presentations and other supporting material as needed
    • Actively engage, cultivate, and manage press relationships with traditional and new media, as well as communicate with national media outlets to ensure coverage surrounding company's programs, special events, public announcements, and other projects
    • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the communications function including budgeting, planning and staff development Team Development/Management
      • Recruit and manage a communications team to support the development and execution of the communications strategy
      • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
      • Mentor and develop communications staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis--
      • Delegate projects and responsibilities appropriately and effectively
      • Establish and monitor communications staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and commensurate salary adjustments, promotions. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
        • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations or related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred
        • Minimum 15-20 years experience in a senior global communications management role either in-house or with an agency
        • Demonstrated skill and track record in proactively building relationships with high-level media, and A-list artists teams, and successfully positioning to achieve high-impact.
        • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communication, media relations, and programs to advance an organization's mission and goals.
        • Must be creative and thoughtful on how new media technologies can be utilized.
        • A minimum of ten years' experience in planning, writing, editing, and production of press releases, marketing collateral, and other online and print publications.
        • Innovative thinker, with a record of accomplishment for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output.
        • Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of communications professionals.--
        • Excellent judgment, flexibility, and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
        • Superior management skills: ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
        • Stature, gravitas, and confidence to gain the credibility and respect of stakeholders.
        • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
        • Excellent and persuasive communicator
        • Must be energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical marketing and communication initiatives.--
        • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, board members and staff.
        • Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
