At Beachbody the VP, Program Management Office (PMO) holds both the leadership and management roles in the PMO. The VP, Program Management Office (PMO) is also responsible for various methods and practices around provisioning IT into the business, improving the overall PPM maturity across the organization, and tracking and reporting the conformance to plans and expectations of IT-oriented initiatives. As an arm of the overall governance function, the VP, Program Management Office (PMO) is responsible for supporting and enabling the organization's projects, programs and structured work efforts. The VP, Program Management Office (PMO) ensures that the work of the PMO adds value, is relevant to the strategy of the organization, and meets the goals set for the PMO by executive management.The ideal candidate must be able to manage large cross-functional projects.-- The candidate will be able to lead, mentor, and grow junior Project Managers/Scrum Masters assigned to them whether in contract or full-time positions.-- The candidate must have solid software delivery experience using both Waterfall and Agile methods (and hybrids of the two), utilizing that in the execution of cross-functional, and cross-departmental business initiatives.-- Above all, the ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability and desire to actively and confidently lead and communicate, and the ability and desire to be a problem solver in both leader and individual contributor roles.Primary Responsibilities and ActivitiesPMO vision and mission: Evolves and fosters adoption of the vision and mission of the PMO across leadership, stakeholders, and the PMO team itself.Garner vision and mission support: Engages senior leadership and business partners to define the PMO mission, goals and operating model, and releases this after senior management approval, in the form of the PMO charter.Develop the PMO team: Leads the identification and development of PMO roles, team configuration and recruitment appropriate to deliver the agreed-upon PMO goals and objectives.Manage how the PMO delivers: Leads the definition and implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, reporting, guidelines and standards in order to establish a stable framework that supports all teams and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful project delivery.Run standard portfolio management processes: Facilitates the agreed-upon process that develops plans and prioritization by leadership and through governance.Oversee execution and measure outcomes: Defines, manages and directs the needed end-to-end PMO work effort, which includes leveraging best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying and tracking the realization of expected benefits defined in business cases.Manage vendor relationships and performance: employ best practices to engage vendors, measure performance, and hold them accountableManage to portfolio budget: Accountable for the Program/Portfolio Budget, and all associated financials, including baselining, tracking, and reporting.Manage department financial reporting: Responsible for maintaining, tracking and reporting on the Enterprise Technology Budget ($50M+).Manage and mentor PMO team: Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring to PMO staff and project managers.Build trust: Builds and maintains relationships with senior leadership and key PMO stakeholders, and acts as a trusted advisor.Keep up with best practices: Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve the project management best practices in order to achieve higher maturity in PPM.Create a center of excellence: Leads (where one is agreed and needed) the establishment of a project management community of practice to facilitate collaboration and best-practice sharing among project managers and key PMO stakeholders.EducationBachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.ExperienceMinimum 10 years' experience managing complex, multi-functional projects.Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders who have different levels of technical expertise.Expertise with IT project lifecycles; both software development and infrastructure implementations.Experience working with and relying on external vendors.Familiarity with Enterprise, Digital and Mobile Applications.Exceptional oral and written communication skills.Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.Self-starter, self-motivated, and able to take initiative.Desire to succeed in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.Ability to set and meet deadlines.Ten or more years of experience in IT and business/industry.Five to seven years of leadership responsibilities.Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams.Experience working with and relying on external vendors.Knowledge and Skills-- -- -- -- ----Experience with one or more project management methodologies (for example, PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2 and agile).Successfully employ Agile framework (Kanban and SCRUM) across multiple delivery teams in conjunction with overall portfolio managementProgram management skills and experience, plus significant knowledge of project planning tools with evidence of practical application (which is highly desirable).Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the PMO vision, and inspire and motivate PMO staff.A distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills including the ability to explain IT concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the PMO staff. (This is a highly visible position with substantial impact.)Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may not be in direct control of this role.Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills.Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units.Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business, and how they may be applied to the enterprise to drive digital business.Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic resource plan.Strong IT Finance experience and understanding, including technology finance budgeting, accounting best practices, time tracking, etc.Expert in resource planning, allocation and reporting.
